Hey guys,

Im new to keeping bonsai and my girlfriend brought me this for my birthday and were not sure what type of plant it is. Here are a few pics of it.

It looks like a serissa to me mate. I might be wrong though.

Are they a good beginner species?

Yes they are really easy, don't mind some hard pruning sometimes and flower which is always nice!!! They are also easy to repot, so yes a good tree for a beginner

'tis Serissa
also know as a "tree of a thousand stars" which is about the profusion of tiny white flowers.

Very pretty.

Yes Jason they are evergreen, although in my mountain climate they often drop a lot of leaves during winter.
