I never took any notice of these trees until they where cut down but I do believe I know what Aussie native they are. Any one want to take a guess.

Looks like a nice new concrete footpath. I'd prefere the trees.
I would love a small stump, but holidays are finished. Back to work Monday with a week of on-call.

Callistemon of some type at least.

I first thought they would be mine but there is something unusual about the way they are cut. Branches have been cut off even secondary trunks have been cut very low, almost neatly. They are definitely in the way of the foot path unless it veers of some and there seems little room for that so I doubt they have just been trimmed to enable more access to the work.

Could they be planning to replant them, doesn't seem like the usual thing for a council to do. Much safer just to plant fresh trees. Maybe they have left a trunk so the digger has something to push on Not sure I could have trimmed them back any better for bonsai

I will hopefully have a chat with the workers tomorrow morning and see what is going on.

Bretts you nailed about leaving something for the digger to leverage to get it out of the ground. You could alwYs wait for the digger to do the hard work getting em out of the ground for you. I'm sure a cold slab of beer would be persuasive in getting cooperation...

No workers this morning Had to make a call to the dreaded Council pencil pushers. Works out they had an RDO today but the trees will be comming out quick smart tomorrow morning. I have been told I can have them so I arranged to be there in the morning to work it out with the workers .

I can't just keep filling the yard with collected trees so I might keep one and swap or sell the others. If anyone wants one please let me know. Not out to make a fortune on this just cover the cost of materials mainly.
If I don't have any takers by tomorrow I will only get two of them.
They may be already taken but if you are interested please let me know.

No luck here. The trees did not want to play ball and came out a mess, it was not what I expected. They are trying to get the last one out now that is over a water pipe so it has some chance I will check on the way to pottery and see if I can get a pic to cry over

They finnally got one out in one peice but I hear Sumo is heading out of style There was discussion of putting it out on the farm but we decided our efforts where best spent else where.

The first one should survive but I dont know about transplanting them now though. Perhaps, Pup can chime in...

Yep there is no reason the first one would not survive but we felt the root ball was just too big. It was a very interesting exercise though. It is getting predictable when collecting trees of the sought of roots you will get, around here anyway. Yet I had not collected callistemon before and they change of root ball even among these three trees is food for thought.
