Re: The Italian Job
Stefano what you have done with Colin lewis's Ulmo is beautiful ! You have refined it to the next level. Taking over a tree from another artist seems to be something you like to do and do it very well ! What goes through your mind when buying a tree from someone else. What is the driving force for you to own that tree?

Re: The Italian Job
I have many recorded by other artists, bonsai trees. In this case the aim is to build on work started a long time hoping that one day other artists do with my trees. This ulmus is with me for the past 12 years.
----------------------------------------------
Ho molti alberi rilevati da altri artisti bonsai. In questo caso lo scopo è portare avanti un lavoro iniziato da tempo sperando che un giorno altri artisti lo fanno con i miei alberi.
Questo ulmus è con me da ormai 12 anni.

Re: The Italian Job
The second tree Pino sylvestri with the low cascading branch is truly wonderful and very unique. What is your inspiration for this tree?

Re: The Italian Job
My daughter loves the choice of song too!!
Welcome Stefano, to our little site. The progression of that Pine over 20 years is amazing, thank you Stefano and Antonio for sharing! When my Italian improves from barely being able to ask for a "solo espresso", to something approaching an adult conversation, I would love to see Italy and it's bonsai artists up close.
Cheers,
Mojo

Re: The Italian Job
Well last night was a bit of excitement having Stefano joining in here !!! Its great that he has a crack at English. Most younger italians speak it but are still shy of it and easily embarrassed. I congratulate Stefano for having a go!
I now want to take you all to the north of Italy right of Venice and up against the border of Slovenia. Sitting on the Gulf of Venice Trieste is a very diverse and interesting land. Here i want to introduce you to grass roots Bonsai. This is a great example of how many young italians start Bonsai. With no further ado, here is a very exciting young man His name is Andrea Meriggioli. He is all of 22 yrs old. He already is in demand to demonstrate in Europe and trust me, is going to be huge in the future.
He is a yamadori hunter/collector and may buy or trade the odd piece. This is him on one of his play grounds !!!
