Another Ebay Question

There is a seller in Sydney selling Japanese Black Pine seedlings for $120 per tray of 20 ...problem is it's pickup only
Is there a kind hearted soul out there who would freight these on to me if I asked and paid nicely ...I live in Bundaberg Q'ld

i don't want to question your price but $120 for 20 seedlings sound expensive.

I'm guessing that the reason they are so expensive is because the seeds are so hard to strike. I work at a wholesale nursery and the people that supply our conifers including black pines tell me that this is the case. This is why the small black pines and other various pines that we get are always grafted onto something else.

Cheers for that John, it makes me laugh because the Bonsai nursery (alledgedly closed) over here has literally hundreds of black pines at all levels of growth , very cheap also, .

Thanks for the info, living in a regional town we don't get a lot of choice as to plant types and 1 type I really want to try is a black pine

I have 23 growing in my backyard and all I did was sow them with no pre-treatment. Maybe your thinking of JWP as they are often grafted on to JBP roots and are also hard to get past the seedling stage due to collar rot and the like?

Might be worth contacting Roger from Defined Garden on the Gold Coast I do know that he has a guy from Bundy that comes down to pick up stock and supplier about once a month maybe he could put you in touch wiyh each other and on his next trip he could pick up some stock for you as well and bring it back to Bundy for you

Maybe I AM getting them mixed up!! As I implied it was just a guess as to why these trays were so expensive. What we stock MAY be scots pine/white pine etc etc, not something I must admit I have too much attention to as we do not sell large quantities of these.

Wow Scots / White I would love to acquire some of these as well the only species we have here is slash pine ...ah the tyranny of distance
Even getting Junipers here is very difficult ...when you ask local nursery's they look at you blankly and say they are not popular so we don't stock them
