Re: Ficus natalensis
Once you get some buds and shoots on top I would remove that side branch as the trunk will thicken there. Lot of work to do - good luck

Thanks Tony! Which cutting are you talking about specifically? Or are you talking about the stump?Bougy Fan wrote:Once you get some buds and shoots on top I would remove that side branch as the trunk will thicken there. Lot of work to do - good luck
Hope I left enough room for that stump to bud back!

On the stump. Yes a bit brave - I was suggesting cutting where I did to ensure life
Well fortune favours the brave
As long as it is warm over there at this time of year ?

That's right you have posted your indoor set up before. Too much hard work for me
Mine are outside all year around here in the lucky country

As for the cuttings, they're going into a setup I built today with high, high humidity. The stump will stay in a different one, for now at least. I'll probably move it here shortly, though.

Ill never take my figs for granted after reading thru your posts mate, best of luck. I might even use a few old 2ft fish tanks this coming summer to propagate
If only we had some of the queensland humidity down here

As for this guy, I saw a bud had popped on that long branch I left on the stump, so I cut back to it. I then flared the base of the cutting, and was surprised by how flared I got it...

Re: Ficus natalensis
This one's in a setup I've made for my cuttings. It is a fish tank surrounded by aluminum foil to reflect light. It's got a fogger hooked up to it, and I let that run for an hour or two to increase humidity even more.Rintar wrote:what's the container its sitting in

I think he meant either what the medium is or what the medium is contained in
Wow that's pretty good for striking a cutting - but again I admire how much effort you go to
