azalea not right

I've not seen anything cause that. Some azaleas do naturally have curled up leaves, Shiryu no homare is one, google 'rinpu' type leaves on satsuki azalea. I'm assuming yours didn't look like that before though

Maybe try giving it a fungicide - fongarid is good because it sorts out root rot problems, and a systemic pesticide and leave it in a sheltered spot for the winter. I don't think I'd fertilise until it looks better and starts growing again in spring. (not an expert though)

I'd give the nursery it came from a ring too, they may be familiar with the variety and possibly have seen this before...

i will give nursery a call today and hope he isnt busy, and it didnt have curled up leaves before i asked some guy's in my club
and they suggested it could be frost or dead and i said to them you think it would be dead and still popping new leaves out ,
they changed there mind and said it could be spidermite,soilor frost so i got the tree in shed and only bring it out in daytime to see
if that solves the problem and today i shall repot into a black grow pot with fresh azalea soil

hi neal
i did try but phone rang out so i will try tommorrow early in morning , but in the meantime i repotted it in a dry soil
cause as i took it out of the pot it was dripping water i had to let it sit out of soil for a couple of hours then repotted it in
good azalea mix with no water or fert so it can dry out a bit as i think it was a bit wet thanks for help

Sounds like a good move, azaleas don't like to dry out but they also HATE wet feet, a well drained mix is essential

Hi Dragon , mate what sort of ferts are you using . I use Azalea or Citrus food on all mine .Wet feet will make the leaves smaller than usual and yellow quite a great deal .I have used seasol powerfeed on a potted Satsuki and its yellowing now so i will cease this and continue with Azalea/Citrus food .I have several with an underground spring under them and every year in Winter the get too wet . While some don't like the idea because of the product , but i use Rigor which seems to work a treat on all my Azalea's and that was about 70 odd , follow the directions and wear a mask or you will be the throne for a day or two .

Yates Chelated Iron is also used every winter , this prevents the yellowing here also and since it was used quite a few years ago regularly i haven't had these issues . I have had the type of leaf and hit them with a dose of iron, azalea food and rigor and the all sparked back into life within 4 weeks , however they were still in the ground . Dynamic Lifter or any type of product with chicken manure is a Big No No .Some potting mixes has a percentage of fowl manure if a potting mix was or is used . If you have a test kit test the PH of the soil it can sour quite quickly and again the Azalea's don't like it .

i thought so to squizzy but it is the first winter i have had with the tree so it is new to me so it is a matter of seeing what happens with it at the moment it is under shelter from the rain so it dont get to wet and i am going to try and make a mini greenhouse for it to protect it from the nasty nasty weather we having

I did answer you but for some reason every post I have answered all have disappeared for unknown reasons
but the azalea is called satsuki ( summertime ) it is 10 years old and the tree is going great.but I had a few problems
with the table it was on collapsed and it broke one branch but I got to it intime and glued it and now new buds are coming out of it
and it flowered like mad and all I can say is LOOKING GOOD thanks to all who replied
