Top and Bottom, Chinese elms

These two trees were one. I did not like them that way, so I air layered and was going to ditch the bottom and keep the top as it had a bit more going for it.
That has since changed.
I decided to keep both as they are not bad.

This has been a project of a few years and they have been shown at exhibitions.

Do you not think the straigt section of the "top" is a bit Straight and boring?

Considering the top was cut off the bottom and that's the new leader which will thicken soon enough , i love it

Ken mate, that is the bottom and it does look straight but it is not. The tree is slightly off in the pic, although I will now have to have another look.

It is not straight when clothed, so it must be a queen

Hey Pup,

Those two little trees look awsome, if your ever thinking of ditching anymore of your bottoms halves, send them over here to the east coast mate. Once again, well done, love that ramification.

Figured that you would not have a tree that was dodgy like that, and there must be something else going on that cannot be seen in the flesh.

@hartos I agree, but when you have a change in trunk taper like that, i would expect some movement as well rather than a continuing line across the Sections as it appears.

Hello again Ken, the tree does not have a trunk as such. If you look at the top view you will notice a hollow as the trunk splits into 5 branches, so the one in quetion is a branch more than the trunk. I will still look though.
