Critiqueing your own trees

Just a hint I have been using for many years. To really see any faults or other design options in your trees, stand with your back to the tree and look at it in a mirror. You will be surprised at what you will see that you hadn't seen before. You are so used to seeing them in one perspective that vital flaws and obvious options are missed. Give it a go and let us know what you see.

Interesting tip. The other one I find useful is to stand much further back from the tree when you appraise it. Also provides a different sense of perspective.

I have a useful tool given to me many years ago before the digital age became so prolific.

Was to darken the room with a light coloured wall and shine a powerful torch so you have perfect silhouette. Then you can see what is out of place.

I works well too.

I take a photo of my trees and then study them on a computer. You see lots of faults that way too
