This was a radiata seen by many of you at the AABC Convention.
The design was not set at that time because there was insufficient time.
This was a particularly difficult tree to restyle because it had more than one apex. It needed to overcome this and several other problems and is considered to be a "long term" project.
The owner presented it and the future plan is for a very powerful much shorter tree.

Great posts Gerad, thank you very much.

I have enjoyed the way you have posted the trees and the sketches, giving reality to what lies within, before styling, and hope to what can be.

Thanks again,

Paul C.

Thanks for the post Gerard. I am a bit concerned about the health of the large radiata and how many branches were removed. The main reason why Boon didnt remove some of the larger branches was so the tree would survive and not compromise the health of the tree, especially considering radiatas tend to die if there larger branches are removed. Was Hiro ok about that and what advice did he give about it's health?
Thanks

Yes David, it was interesting to sit in on much of the discussion with both Boon and Hiro and I know QV had a long discussion with the trees owner about removing more branches in about 3 years.
There were two major branches/trunks high on the tree removed during the workshop. I felt that the work was conservative and do not have major concerns for the trees health.

As long as that Radi"s root system is stable, Chopping this time of the year and still leaving that much energy on the tree,it wont even bat an eye lid. It will power on to be a bigger and better tree. Go Hiro Go Hiro !!! :tu:

I will post what i took on the weekend. It was a brilliant weekend and one of the most informal presentations i have seen in Bonsai (besides Don) A fantastic two days with a wealth of knowledge on tap. Some of the best Artists in Oz were cruising around to help and Hiro was the epitome of helpfulness and sharing his knowledge.
