Hey Mitch,

That's a very young tree mate. My suggestion for now it to just let it grow out and thicken up a bit. I like the shape you've got going there. Try to slowly get one or two of the bends a little bit sharper - not all of them. Give it a couple of years and let if bulk up a bit. I think you are going to have a challenge to get a literati that small, but hey, there's nothing like a challenge huh!

The other thing you need to give some thought to is the branch structure. You have two sets of branches that come out of the trunk from the same position. For now, I'd leave them as is, but at some stage you need to take one of each pair out. Give it a year or tow though as they will help to get the tree healthy for now.

Cheers

Thanks for the tips mate, with the top bent over like that it stands at 350mm with it pointing at the sky it is around 550mm and looked really leggy thats why i went with the bend at the top but as it grows and thickens i guess that scrawny look will fade, i will slowly move it back to vertical in that curled section to give the final design a longer straightish section because as you said it has a few yrs of thickening to do and would look plump for a literati if it only grew vetical for 300 mm or so.
