Hi,
I have searched but can not find an answer so here is my question...................... I am getting ready for the spring repoting of some Junipers and everything I read says that you can not bare root them. How do you go about take a tree out of a nursery soil mix into say a mix of diatomite ???

Who says junipers cannot be bare rooted?
I routinely bare root juniper cuttings and the trees I dig from the growing beds. A little bit of care after should see it go really well. It is really about how much root you are cutting off, not whether you bare root. Junipers are a bit slow to grow new roots sometimes but I have not lost one yet except when root pruned hard and replanted into the growing beds with minimal water and aftercare.
If you are really worried try bare rooting part of the rootball at each repot but I think this approach can cause problems because new and old mix will drain differently - too wet/dry in the same pot.

I bare rooted an old pot grown juniper a couple of weeks ago so I could change the mix to a coarser one, it is already pushing new growth. Keep it slightly dry until it is growing strongly.
Your tree will thank you for the change of soil go for it.
