Re: 15 year old juni
Lots of work gone on there
If i could make a suggestion before it is to late
I think the deadwood would suit the composition better if it swept over the foliage to capture the windswept look you are trying to recreate. That way you could use a lot more of the jin. Just my observation.

Vasbyt Dean - good on ya mate! I like the way the tree is headed, and I agree with Bodhi on that jin - move it if you can - you can always lop it off later if it does not work out!dragon wrote:thanks craig

Re: 15 year old juni
gday bohdi and andrew
i have tried bending the jin but it does make alot of cracking noises when going upwards hehehe
so that is why i decided to take it downwards and soon will cut the deadwood down to about 3-4 inches and split the branch so it looks more of
a natural snap or just snap it to get a real effect of branch snapping thankyou for you words of wisdom
cheers dean

Steaming and Raffia wrap can do the trick, but you gotta be keen and go slowly, bend a bit, wait, bend a bit, wait
and still be prepared for the ..CRACK..

Re: 15 year old juni
well bohdi
i do have plenty of time so i think it would be a snap
so i might give it a try depending on how much pain i am in but the cold weather is knocking my back around pretty bad so i think i will have to wait to do that but it is a very good thought so i will think about that one you think you can do a quick sketch or vert for me
and i will see what happens
cheers dean

OK.. i am not a great sketch Artist but you should get the idea. It would look much better if you could even get the dead branch lower than the sketch and have it behind the foliage a bit. Then you would have the green live in the foreground with the white deadwood in the background. Maybe someone else with better talents (sketching wise) than me can improve on the idea.
