Dario, you are a wealth of knowledge my freind. I understand what your saying about ancient suber bark being a more tight cork, Very old Melaleucas(paperbark varieties) sometimes exhibit the same traits having barely any paper left on the trunk.

I am glad to hear some other growers have tried this Dario, Do you know the end results at all?


Now if you do go ahead and try this mate please take your time. I think you will find it rather easy to damage the membrain if you have not got a delicate touch. It is not easy but not hard .Some of the bark in your progress pics on the previous pages seem to have quite nice cork already , so take time to think about if this is what "you" want to do..

If you do try it then you will gain some invaluable growing experience that money can not buy..

Thanks for all that advise Craig I will have a good long think about it before I decide either way...and if I go for it I will pay attention to what you said!
Not sure that I have the ability to pull this of anyway, but I won't know if I don't try.
I will visit the Italian forum and see if I can rustle up some pics for you of subers that have had this tecnique done to them (can't promise but I will try ) they do do this sometimes though.
