Clerodendrum; is it frost hardy?

Hi all,

After 2 and 1/2 months of trialling the Clerodendrum here in Canberra here is a photo from today.

The one that has been growing inside settled down after some early growth in May and now looks quite good. It is near a window and gets some direct sun but not for long.

The one that has been growing outisde is more compact and has recently shed most of its older, larger leaves. It does have some yellowing of the newish growth but no severe frost or cold damage so far.

We are in for lots more days of sub zero starts here so there is still a long way to go with this experiment.

Update

Ultimately it looks like the repeated cold finished off the Clero growing unprotected outside; whereas the one growing inside has done fine.

Things are warming up here with most trees now in spring growth but I don't think the one on the left will come back to life.

So it looks like any Clerodendrum for Canberra will need the protection of the Frost Free Area we are building for the collection.
