Re: Pine Nuggets
Garden world does a mini pine bark nugget. I still spend all day sifting the bags to grade it though.

Thats the stuff.
You want to used aged pine bark as non aged mulch robs the soil of nitrogen as it composts.

Re: Pine Nuggets
Hi Spec, Jow's spot on, just discussing this with Dario and Sqiz ...
Hope that helps aswell
cre8ivbonsai wrote:Hi Dario I picked up some Aus Grow orchird mini nuggets at Collectors corner (big bags 30Lt? are out in the Cactus garden) on Sunday, probably paid premium rates but its too hard for me to get anywhere during the week, but, once I sieved out the fines (good seed raising mix) the rest is a very worthy addition to my mix - very proportionate in size to accompany the graded diatomite, akadama, granite and scoria, gives the mix a bit more of a softer balance and stop it being quite as free draining.Dario wrote:Hi Rudy, I know you are in Geelong but I get my pine bark from Biogro, they stock the Ausgro range.
Biogro are wholesale sellers so you must purchase a minimum of $100 worth of products (combined total). They stock many different Ausgro poting mix products...orchid mix, composted pine bark, mini nuggets (in a range of particle sizes), azalea and regular/premium potting mix etc, etc.
They are in Dandenong South but they may deliver?

If you get the mini nuggets or other pine bark products be sure to give it a quick rinse to get rid of any dust etc.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Dario.
Thanks for the Bio Grow link so I knew what product I was looking for![]()
Cheers,
Ryan

So I dare say v similar to what you describe. Btw price was $28 = 50lt bag
Ryan
Hope that helps aswell

Re: Pine Nuggets
Hi Ryan, sorry I missed your reply in the other thread.
I really like the Ausgro mini nuggets from Biogro (2-7mm) it is so much better than sifting regular potting mix as I was doing previously.
I also purchased a couple of 50 litre bags of Ausgro's composted pine bark. I use the mini nuggets in bonsai pots and the composted pine bark for trees that I am growing on in poly boxes and larger containers, as the particle size is much bigger and quite chunky.
They also work as a drainage layer at the bottom of the pot.
Cheers, Dario.
