Found this ash while out driving had a day of work as my daughter had a net ball carnival so i watched her play

. This ash would make a nice tree i think has great bark an good taper once chopped down to a new leader now all i have to do is to get the ok from the wife hahaha ive been told ive got enough trees already

The ash looks like a goodn. Definitely worth the dig.
The thing about having a lot of trees is that you can always slip a few extra in behind the others towards the back, then when they re-establish you can bring them forward and when the missus says 'that a new one where did that come from?' you can say that it has merely developed from an older one and 'doesn't it look good now!!'.

Now ya talkn OC !!! That is nice material. Why dont you just leave it there, chop it, trench it and train it in the ground there. When it s ready dig it into a bonsai pot wella everyones happy mrs wont think you dug another tree.

A good tree to dig O.C but i personally think your leader is the second branch on the right hand side. It will create a better tree in the long run and give you taper and more movement. But that is just what i think

by this photo Bodhi's advice is on it, however i would want pics of at least 4 sides at eye level b4 making that decision.

Hi guys i did take another picture of this tree from the side the red arrow is pointing to a fence post so you can see the size of this thing

Been givin the green light from the wife to dig this tree

but the cost of that is to reduce my collection by a few trees

so ill take them to my club for the raffle they have. When collecting ill leave all possible leaders as long as possible

Sweet, I was looking at some big arsed ash trees my self on the weekend, can't be bothered digging them up though, too much like hard work, going to chainsaw them off instead and see if they spring roots out like the olives do.

its worth a try seen on this site some cutting them flat just leaving some small feeder roots an they have survived

I trunk chopped an ash once and planted the offcut, it was about 10cm thick and that took off OK, will give it a try on a flat cut stump this spring, stay tuned

these ash have great bark even on small trees if the wife didnt stop me collecting i could see myself having more ash then olives

Ozzy i like the bends in that tree good find
