Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
Flowering Peach, at a guess, from the leaf shape. If cuttings now don't work, maybe some half-hard cuttings mid-season might work.

I also think Peach and why dont you layer a branch off
Peach in the tropics get mould and gumosis so be aware.

Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
It's actually in the obnoxious neighbours yard of my mates place where I am working - but there are some branches hanging over the fence
So it's a cutting or nothing
It seems to be thriving in Ipswich which gets hotter than Brissy so I am hoping it will be OK. Just love the flowers

Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
Hi Bougy , mate its a cherry , and i'll bet my left leg on it . Its still broken but worth the gamble . The grow well from semi hardwood cuttings , softwood cuttings and root cuttings . A good specimen to air layer although i haven't tried air layering one i wouldn't hesitate . Peaches and Nectarines have much rougher bark than the Cherry .

Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
Bougy can you take a pic of the base of the tree and a close up of the leaf mate. This will solve the ID issue.
I do agree with alpine cherry do have smoother bark, but so do peach on the newer branches and from what i can see of the leaf it looks like a Peach/Nectarine, also I wonder on the likely hood of a cherry growing in Ipswich
.
Not to say I could be wrong... we could always wait for the fruit
Regards

Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
I won't bet any limbs on it, however I have a White Nectarine in the yard here that has been pushing flowers this weekend just like those you posted. (Hopefully I get some decent fruit off it this year).

Re: [ID] Peach or Cherry ?
I'm with Alpine. I'll also bet his left leg that this is a cherry
the bark is quite distinctive and I can see slight serrations around the edges of the leaves. Peach leaves have smooth edges.
