That really pretty, do you know the name of it? The only Magnolia's Ive seen have huge flowers and no where near the amount of petals of the flowers you have there. Its beautiful.
I am pretty sure the variety is Magnolia stellata but it is about to bucket down here so I can't confirm that. Here it comes, one minute its sunny, next it is pouring rain and freezing cold. Ahhhhh Melbourne
It looks just like my stellata but with alot more flowers
Any chance we can see some pics of the whole tree?

I will go out later with a cuppa and and camera to get some shots but I fear there will need to be explanations and critiques for what has and what will happen to it.
It was lookin ok till I realised you had written on the pic so enlarged them... thats better..
Great plan, get 2 from one... I intend to do the same with mine.

I reckon you can get more than 2 from that one Matt, more like 4 or 5
For some reason I can't get a virt for you, however the way the trunk base pushes a little left and then to the right of the pic is great. Letting one of those shoots develop while layering the others

Something like that
I intend layering the upper parts this season & dig for a proper look at the roots next yr before making any decisions on which way it will go. Was not the healthiest specimen when I got it just over a year ago so another season in the ground will do it good.

This is the other side of the base showing a big scar & a nasty crossing root just below the surface...
