large azaleas in sydney

Post by toohey »

Hi All,
I know a while ago someone on the forum was asking about azaleas, but, as it is fathers day on Sunday and birthday next week I have asked the family if I could get a large Azalea. Has anyone seen large Azalea stock for sale worthy of turning into great bonsais?
Regards,
Michael

Depends what you are looking for.

Something from a Bonsai nursery/Azalea grower or retail nursery?

I think your best bet is to keep an eye out when walking the local streets to see what the neighbours have in the garden. See something you like = make an offer. Probably going to work put cheaper than buying either a "pre made" big azalea bonsai.

Not Bought but have asked to collect something and been given the OK
This as from 2 gardens that I had noticed being worked on, so went and asked.

Others on the site have done so and posted their successes before.

Sorry Michael, have not seen any recently. I have one large multi trunk one I collected last year, but was not intending to sell it tho. It has not even flowered yet so do not even know what it is.

Hi Toohey head out towards Dural ,Galston there are a lot of nurseries. I think the family could have a great day exploring the area. Peter Song across the road from Galston shops had some azalea's in bonsai pots for sale . The azalea I bought recently from him was great value . He told me he was having a sale until the end of October. Look for bonsai garage sale sign. Ray nesci's is also out that way (not sure about Azalea's). Happy birthday.
