Something different
Hey guy's here's a few pic's of a two tree setting I through together yesterday afternoon.
It needs a few more years and maybe another tree.
Tell me what you think (setting is around 650mm x 800mm).

Nice tree and will also like to see some other shots. It Looks to be Quite tall for a Ficus. I would think a Much larger canopy will suit?

Re: Something different
Hi Shannon,
I like the concept. Ken's idea of a larger canopy on the larger tree is good, but make sure you don't shade the smaller tree. Personally I like the idea of just two trees. Like a Father and Son concept.

Hope you enjoy your camera. You should be able to get some great shots.
Regards Ray

Re: Something different
Very interesting. The trunks are so different, it shouldn't work, but for me it does, because the angles that they're sitting at make them harmonise. And the short trunk is so stubby and thick, it's just strong enough to stand up to the tall one. Yes of course when the canopy grows everything will look full and green, but as you've shown it, we get to see the bones. Good post, good tree.
Have fun with the camera. I know it's a pain with a tree that's this big, but if you can get a plainish, darker background, the tree is easier to see. If you can photograph it in the shade, there are fewer confusing shadows. That's right, pick the damn thing up and put it somewhere else - it's so easy to say when someone else is gonna have to lift it!
Thanks for posting.
Gavin

Re: Something different
Great looking tree. How long has it been planted on that rock" if it is a rock or tree stump? I agree that a more layered umbrella shaped canopy would be more conducive for a fig such as this.

Nice pics and I did not even see the small one in the original post
Now you have a good camera, you need to get a background to photograph against.
I hav a coupl that I hang out of some convenient Nails driven into a tree or 2
Have a plan dark blue cloth as well as some old holland blinds

Re: Something different
Solution is a portable background. I use a black bed sheet pinned to an Shoji screen, then crop it to get just the image that you want.

Re: Something different
As your ground is only garden and grass, you can get 2 long polkes with a sheet tied to them, Push in the ground beind the tree?Shannon wrote:A background would have been best Ken but the tree's too heavy to lift by myself........

I agree, smaller trees are good
