Acer Palmatum cut back and thread graft

After a year of much improved growth, using about twice the amount of fertiliser I used previously, I decided to some cut back and grafting work on this Japanese maple. The idea was mainly to remove and replace the scarred top of the tree. I think this is the front…

I then sealed the cut.

About a month later I got time to graft. You can see the planned holes, but I ended up drilling half way between the two.
