Nothing beats a good days honest work.. that is working on our trees

Today I had the pleasure of working on a Shimpaku Juniper that had been left neglected in it's pot as you can see from the photo

Initially I had planned to style it as an informal upright however after studying the tree a little bit more, I decided to go with a semi cascade instead.

All I have done is to give the tree a new direction moving forward and to establish the movement along the trunk line.

I had thought about styling it further however wanted to thicken up the branches more and have them jinned at a later stage.

So for now, just gonna let it settle and enjoy it for the time being.. of course till it gets its next styling

Since I don't have a place to work on trees at night I couldnt help but bring this tree inside

Looking at view 1, I am unhappy with the bend in the trunk. I have read about few methods such as drill out and another method using wires.

I know this trunk isn't exactly big (though I do have trouble) so am sure people have bent bigger ones successfuly.

Any methods that I can employ now or am I better to progressively apply the bend ?

Coming to think of it, my foliage can do with a little thinning ??

I agree the bend at the top needs more work.
The major problem is it appears as a constant Radius bend which does not look attractive.

The solution might be, just add another wrap or 2 of wire and then gt the knee up to it to bend tighter in 1 spot if you can, or possibly wedge a Block under it to lever against, or if you another pair of hands to help?
