[SELL/SWAP] Melb area

Post by billa »

Hi Guys,

I would like to put up a few trees for SELL/SWAP…

Now the reasons for this is because…the very famous – I do not have any more room lol which is very true…I use my tiny balcony and it is really getting hard to walk around in!!! Plus I am sure my neighbours are sick of seeing my crack so often when I bend over and stretch to reach far bonsai on low benches :P

But more importantly…you know how they say do not go shopping while hungry? Well some of this stuff I had to individually source & very eagerly snapped it up but…approaching them now, I know I would not get the results I am after…I want to master the basics then move onto more advanced techniques.

I have a large funk corky bark elm that has a lot of new growth – it has a lot of potential (well I guess most material des right? Lol) …the opportunities are many with what you can do & only confined by your imagination! …I was going to air layer it but I have never tried and definitely do not want to practice on this one! Believe it or not…I actually paid $300 for it…yes I feel like giving myself a double axe kick to the head…but I guess you can say I learnt a very expensive lesson, I now take a uncle scrooge approach to buying trees! ….Most people I meet in bonsai are actually super cool, friendly and generous. Now even tho I have been doing this for a few years – I think I got taken advantage of…anyway this is probably something that happens to many young, new enthusiastic bonsai folk…

So besides it being a thick trunked, good size tree – it is also the most expensive Corky Bark Elm in Victoria!! I know I probably got charged double maybe even tripe what its actually worth – I am willing to make a loss 

So please if anyone is interested please PM me or send me photos/descriptions of things(s) you are willing to trade 

I also have 2 junis and 2 nice pieces of mallee root dead wood. I want to sell/trade these as like a set of 1 x juni & 1 x dead wood for the tanuki/phoenix style tree.

The multi trunked juni will go with the pointy deadwood piece…the long ‘trunk’ part of the deadwood is naturally hollow all the way and looks amazing…there is also another smaller hollowing –so having a multi trunk juni will come up nicely as you can slide them through the hollows or attach them however you will. The piece of dead wood is great (you can’t actually see the trunk hollowing in the picture but I will upland one soon) potentially a kick ass tree!!! Also some rounder parts of the dead wood ( at the base) mean you can carve at your hearts content….

I actually found some more photos of them…

The second tree is a smaller more dense juni that goes with the other dead wood piece. The second piece has a good taper on the ‘trunk’ part of it (no hollowing parts but that is between you and your dremel) The tree itself is not bad at all.

So folks...if anyone is keen for a swap or purchase let me know – If you have a price in mind please let me know!!!

I will of course consider the highest monetary amount or coolest thing to swap…whatever comes first 
