This tree has been growing well collected back in may no its time to thin some shoots an pick a new leader will select some shoots tomorrow had other things to will post more picture then

LOL I was thinking a high percentage but that is some serious sickness for Olives..

Just like I thought my hobby was an interest.. no no a passion perhaps no no no but a sickness for trees

I cant stop looking at them everywhere I go no matter how many time I've seen them

Now that Olivsaura Oh Shiet! What a specimen thats gonna be! How old you say it is and how would u even lift a monster like that.. crane perhaps ??

hard to say how old olives are when collecting i would say for the trunk size over 20yrs for the one in the link have seen olive growing in a olive grove for 10 years getting watered an feed an they arnt half the size as for repotting ill put the pot on the bench where the tree will be for a few yrs

Did some work on this tree then changed my mind on the shoots i want to find i had allready cut ones of that i should of left oh well should re shoot where i need it . After that i cut the top back a bit an picked a leader. The design im looking for is a informal upright with gentle bends in the trunk . The lower right branch is the one i cut of by mistake when it reshoots hopefully the plan is to grow it very long to get some taper in the lower part of the trunk any virts are welcome

Yeah there still heaps every where but in my local area they have chopped down an poisoned a lot not that it makes a difference tho

Thats what i noticed about mine where bigger/older branches have been removed there is clusters of growth.

Are Olives really slow growers?
Would it be worthwhile grabbing a self sown seedling from my brothers yard or should I aim for something older?

I'd say if your going to pick up any seedlings you need patience haha.

Best option is to leave the seedling where it is and let it fatten up there first. It's obviously happy or it wouldn't have germinated

Best to collect one of the size you want much better that way unless you want a mini or small shohin even the collecting the right size tree is the way to go small olives have very good trunks as well
