Urea Fertilizer - Nitrogen Concentrate

Post by The Specimen »

Urea fertizlier apprarently claims to have the highest concentration of Nitrogen at 46% or 51% (cant remeber on the packaging)

While it may have the highest concentrate of Nitrogen one of the disadvantages that I read is that it is not as stable as other high N fertz and that

it is very soluble in water, and hygroscopic water creates a thin layer surrounding individual soil particles, which makes water unavailable to plants.

Im still tempted to set one off on my tree and hopefully it will explode with green vigorous shoots all over.. does anyone use this fert' for their trees and what level of success?

Is it dangerous for our trees being so highly concentrated ?

Yes, Urea can be dangerous if used incorrectly. If fresh chook poo can harm trees just imagine what this stuff can do.

Use urea sparingly and the tree must be watered well. Frankly, unless you really understand what you are doing, I would stick to one of the soluble fertilisers that have recommended dilution rates. They will produce the same results much more safely and also provide a balance of the other nutrients.
