Chop chop goes another olive

Post by Olivecrazy »

After working on my other olive i had been looking at this one its been happly growing in the ground. No real design just been growing out the branches, but today im chop happy  so it was time for change.
Wish i could draw been hard to find a tree on the net that can show what im now aiming to achieve with this tree any comments or other ideas would be great to the top of the dead wood is 83cm. I tried bending the bottom branch down but it started to crack so cut it back short. Hopefully i get a lot of back budding this tree is really healthy shouldn't have to wait long :fc:

After a few days since the big chop ive noticed some shoots on this olive they are to low for where i need them but a good sign that this kind of an idea dose work :tu: seems a bit fast to shoot after the chop tho, but never had shoots from there before that i can remember :D .
The picture isn't really good they are about 3mm long right now ill take another picture when they about 2-3 cm then take them of as they aren't needed that low.

That's a good start OL, it is great to see you getting the bug back
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Howdy after 6mths of growing i did some work on this tree it has progressed a lot i think branches ar starting to develop :tu: an have wired some. Will continue to grow the main leader to thicken up an will start soon building the crown of the tree. The branch on the left ill grow an keep heading down an follow the trunk line maybe just out of sight not sure yet :lost: then have some foliage pads develop as well im really happy with its growth during the winter months :D

Have a virt that im going to work from :D its growing well wich is great but today the growing tip on the left lower branch was eaten by them catapilla that stick the leaves together :( wil have to grow a new leader grrrr these tinny green monsters are driving me nuts. I check the trees 2-3 times aday an they still get by me  any way other then that all is going well with this tree the dead wood will be left to do last so can be done to suit the overall appearance will practice a lot before carving this one :tu:
