Re: Plant and decease ID please
The first one looks like a Lilly-pilly, possibly an Acmena (Maybe A. hemilampra)
Second one looks like a Crab Apple to me.
I think you will have to let both of them flower to be sure.

Re: [ID] Plant and disease please
Yeah that was my thoughts on the second one too hakimoto. Will wait and see. The first one seems to a mystery. I took it a local nursery and they came with with several ideas but thought most likel a ficus but weren't sure. Some one else thought a camelia?? I'm sure it's not a camelia. 2 other people suggested lily pilly as did Hackimoto. Someone else said a magnolia.
Might have to wait for it to flower. Any ideas on the brown spots
. It kind of looks like Botrytus, a fungal decease we used to get on the lillies when I worked for a flower farm many years ago.

Re: [ID] Plant and disease please
Sounds like knowledgeable staff at the nursery (not). It is 100% not a fig as it has paired leaves and figs have alternate leaves. I would bet that it does not have milky sap either. Crush a leaf and smell if it has the lilly pilly aroma. The spots are probably bacterial or fungal, the only was to know for sure is to ID the plant and them see what that species is prone to or get the microscope out. I'd just pull off the affected leaves and keep it healthy to out grow it.

Re: [ID] Plant and disease please
Yeah they were pretty hopeless hackimoto. I just crushed a leaf and yes it does smell like a lilly pilly
to Hackimoto. It has some really good fresh shoots which have no spots so I will pick the damaged leaves off and feed it up plus some seasol. I thought it was bot bound but when I watered it the water soaked in faster than any pots I have at home. I will pull it out and have a look. I look the base on it and can't wait to clean out around the base and have a look. but will get it healthy first.
