Chamaecyparis

Post by The Specimen »

Chamaecyparises (and there are quite a variety to choose from) are right up there for me as bonsai subjects.

They are very slow growing as I've been told especially this one here (17 years) and are thirsty species that must never be left to dry out (althought they love full sun)

They are also a challenge as they don't back bud on brown wood (just the green) so consideration must be giving to branching (die backs can occur if they lack sun light).

They are lovely trees and today I worked on this Chamae'. Wihtin few years she'll fill out more so can't wait!

If anyone has these as prebonsai or stock material please let me know :D
