Faux Bonsai

Hey guys!

A guy at work asked me if I knew where you could get nice looking faux bonsai around Sydney. Apparently his mate's wife grew bonsai many years ago, and they were looking into getting her a nice one for a gift. She is not healthy enough to maintain a proper bonsai.

Any ideas? He is interested in ones that look like real bonsai, not the wire and crystal things. I have seen some very cheap ones at Dollar Shops etc but I think he probably loves his wife a little more than that

Go to rondei.com it is a site that Ken To, sells high quality wire ones. I have bought a couple for mrs pup and she thinks they are the bees knees for permanent indoor display.

Try THIS Joel. I think whatever floats your boat - if she is sick this is a perfect way for her to continue to enjoy bonsai

I'm not you, your friend or his wife so I wouldn't know the circumstances and personal tastes, but I personally find fake bonsai to be naff in the extreme. Here I'm taking about ones that try to look like real trees. I'd far rather have a lovely book celebrating bonsai or a magazine sub than a fake tree! Again, that's just me.

The potter Janet Selby makes these cool little miniatures that are worth a look--The trunks are clay and the foliage is that stuff from model train sets!

I really like her pots, for me the feel very Australian. I bought two tiny little miniatures at a show. I'm going to plant some little Ivy cuttings in them when I get around to it.
