Re: Geelong show purchase
Hey meagi,
Nice purchase mate. I particularly like the lower portion of the main trunk. If this was my tree I might be looking at gaining inspiration from Zhao Qingquan's penjing work for styling ideas.
this is definately OT meagi, sorry. But in my short time here on the forum, do I detect a slight disdain for penjing? Once again, I haven't been here long and haven't read all the threads.

Re: Geelong show purchase
It looks like you could have 3 trunks for a multi trunk.
I think would have a short, medium and tall set of trunks. That's what I like.
And maybe tilt the plant left by 30 degrees to take away some of the straightness.
For $35 its a good buy. Nice choice.

Patience is often a surprise.

Re: Geelong show purchase
How come 2 of the trunks are bare at this time of the year?
I think I would be chopping the tall one back to remove the long straight section. The base is very nice. What is the diameter of that trunk?

Re: Geelong show purchase
Hi ken the two are deadwood no growth so have been
Chopped and discarded along with the spike deadwood
Attached to main trunk
And air layer has been done to top and will be chopped to last leafed branch
To start a new leader
Thanks bodhidharma for your help with my first air layering
Diameter at base of trunk is 120 mm
Cheers
