Ishitsuki in the making
This is in the process of being another Ishitsuki , it will be a free standing vertical rock in a water tray With the basic cutting done with a sabre saw i then moved onto the basic carving into the rock Close to 20 hours later and all the detailed carving is complete and its ready for the numerous sealer , render and colour coats . The tray has yet to be constructed, or has it .I have knocked up a tray but i'm not sure if i will use it . The plants have yet to be decided on .I have dozens of PJ figs of all shapes and sizes however i also have plenty of Black pines both European and Japanese , Shimpaku are also an option as are Crab Apples , Horn Beams even Tridents Maples . With so many choices i'm not in a hurry to landscape it .

Re: Ishitsuki in the making
Well i have managed to get the desired finish on the vertical rock . Its been coloured , brushed and blended then sealed 3 times , now it can cure then testing the sealer will take place If there is any doubts as to how waterproof it is another few coats of sealer will be applied .
Currently sourcing a few species from the garden to see which foliage and trunks suit the style of rock better .

Re: Ishitsuki in the making
Considering you already have Figs will this one be Juni's then I wonder?
I'm the sort of guy who likes a lot of different things.
So if it was me I'd go for the Juni's.
Keep us updated.

Hi Biocs , the beauty of Figs is their Natives and they can live inside . Nothing like a nice feature Bonsai inside the home , and i have plenty of different items here , nothings the same that.s for sure . . We will have to wait and see what transpires over the next few weeks .

Hi MoGanic , If you put the effort in you can get a good result , no effort , no result . I have spent the morning wiring some trunks in readiness for planting it out , just need to re-test the water proofing agent to make sure it will stand up to submersing under water . If its O.K then a planting we will go .

Re: Ishitsuki in the making
These are the Shimpaku Junipers that will grace the Ishitsuki ,they are various ages and configurations so they will need some serious bending to blend together . I have pre-wired them for ease of styling once mounted .The waterproofing test seem fine , so it will be landscaped at my earliest convenience .

Re: Ishitsuki in the making
Well i manage to mount the Junipers into the late hours last night and to put the final touches on the Ishitsuki this morning . After well over 40 hours its come together as planed and now all it needs is some finer trimming and some growing time to render it a finished Project .A good clean up will take place in time until then , this has been a great project , looking forward to the next challenge with a plan already in mind . Ishitsuki Shimpaku Juniper Completed
