Grow-On Area

Post by Dutchie_Boy »

Well it is about time I got off my lazy bum and get on with bonsai work. Here is my new grow-on area after digging out the weeds, removing a few trees and a whole heap of roots and rocks. I have dug in some cow manure and dynamic lifter.

And there we have it wisteria on the fence line and last season’s mugo pine, Japanese red and black pine seedlings in the middle. Hopefully I will have some decent stock to work on in the coming years.

I have also started to pot on some ponderosa pine, mugo pine, as well as Japanese white, black and red pine seedlings into some 50/50 diatomite and orchard mix with a twist of trace elements and osmocote. Only about another sixty to go!!!

In about February I will start to wire the pines up and get as much movement in the trunks as I can. I might even start to develop a few shari as well.

Here is a picture of my current display area, I'm working on the next area, hence all the black weed mat around.

Here's hoping.

Nice work.

That would be the world's slowest house building project. Four years and counting! :palm:

The Next Phase.

There we go seven cubic metres of river rock down and now it is time to build a few more shelves for the bonsai before it gets to hot.

At least there is no grass to mow now!

Very nice area for Bonsai Mark. Looks like lots of sunshine. I really enjoy looking how people display their bonsais in their backyard. :tu:

Thanks guys, kind worlds.

Happy with the amount of sun, just a bit scared about excess heat reflected from the rocks.

The next phase of the display area almost finished. Three more shelves made and levelled, now to move the bonsai again!

Storm about to break so I'm taking a break.
