My first carved rock pot and I'm happy

Post by Josh »

I bought a couple of rocks from a local garden supply place for a landscape I'm doing (will post pictures later). I needed another rock for the lanscape so I headed back the the garden supplies and I found the rock I wanted plus this one :palm:

I'm really happy with the way this turned out. It took about an hour or so to do from start to finish. Please let me know what you think, cause I went and picked up a couple more rocks to do

Thanks
Josh

G'day mate.

I actually replied earlier but it got lost?

Anyway great job on this one.
I love the "true colours" look.
Perhaps some sort of sealant on one or two to retain this look?

Nice work once again.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

 I was thinking "bugger" I don't really have anything worthy of such a pot. Mmmmm might have to go shopping. :tu: :tu: I have looked through piles and piles of rock to find a decent peice with good color and shape, was very happy with this one.

Yeah I was thinking that as I sat there with dust all over me, a blister and a sore thumb were I missed with the hammer  . I might have set up a dust extraction system, I do have a collection unit from my saw bench so might have to sort something out. Now the next one.... or two :palm: . One of the rocks I got is a pillar about 80 cm high and 20cm square. It is bloody heavy too. I'm going try and do a mountain out it. Not sure how it will go but worth a try.

Josh

It is only 80 cm high not 800cm :palm:

Thanks for the comments guys, finding a suitable tree will the next thing. I found this rock chipped out pretty easy which was good but also concerned me that the rock would chip in the wrong spot easy but all was good. Now to start the next one :tu: :tu:
