Phoenix graft with Mallee root

Hi all this is my first crack at a Phoenix graft. The wood is a piece of mallee root. I have done nothing to the juniper just screwed it in place. Next year if all is good will do some wiring. The juniper is just a stock tree from my club...$20 bucks. I'm thinking I won't bleach dead wood with sulphur I kind of like the chunky wood look.. What people think??

I reckon it will start to come into it's own with some wire...
Look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Personally I don't mind the more rustic look rather than the bleached wood effect.

To get the tree to adhere to the stump you should have split the tree in half exposing the cambium and laying the tree flat. that way it grows outward instead of round and grips the stump.
