Free ficus clump progression

Post by Luke308 »

I was given this pot-bound ficus which I have been told is possibly a QLD small leaf fig (would love clarification). As you can see I have just repotted it and removed as much of the old soil as possible and have put in my mix of diatomite/zeolite/Pine bark minis.

All feedback/suggestions welcomed

IMO those wiring scars are horrific.

I'd be looking to chop them out of my design..

I've a fig that is admittedly still reasonably small but around 15 years old..
It's wiring scars are still evident well over a decade later...

So just be aware of this (no doubt you probably are).
They will improve with age but I believe they will be with the tree forever.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful
