Crepe Myrtle Wiki

I have put together a basic Wiki page for Crepe Myrtle: https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... epe_Myrtle
The information is that gleaned form Ausbonsai, the internet, my books and basic knowledge.
It is in no way a bible on Crepe Myrtle and for this reason I put it to the Ausbonsai masses to help improve this skeleton of a page.
A couple of pics would be great too (mine are not worthy!).

Feel free to log in and edit the Wiki directly or simply add to this post and I'll sort it out on your behalf.

excellent-- one question or so-if you prune to promote new growth over the whole plant-ie lots of new tips -will every tip produce a flower and if so will the flowers reduce in size because of numbers

Hello Guy.

The common theme is that Crepe Myrtle (CM) are not typically grown for their beautiful flowers!
The tree is more often appreciated for it's beautiful bark and deciduous colours.
Reason CM is not so valued is due to the habit of the CM to elongate to an unsightly length when flowering..

Through my CM trawling I did not come up with any tips to reduce flower size..

Note:
If your talking physically reduce the flower size - this won't happen.
As per the Wiki flowers will only result from the ends of new growth.
Ie if you prune new growing tips you will not get flowers on that tip.

Just to confirm this is your pictures/tree and you are happy to have these posted on the wiki?

If it is your tree (which I completely assume it is).
Did you have any growing, caring or propogating wisdom to accompany such a fine specimen?

Reason I'm so particular is I don't want to breach the Wiki rules of photo use without permission.

Lovely tree and great work Boics

I collected a few this last winter that are lager size trunks so when work calms down one day I will post them.
At the moment they are just growing madly so will get some work next winter.
Just remember that the branches one they lignify are very brittle and cannot be bent without breaking, Get some loose wire on them early to put them in place is the trick
