I would like to buy some shares and invest in your booming Seed Trade Business...is this possible? I think the dividends will be great ;)
The ebay ones might be mine too...AusBonsai just gets a better price.
I'll gladly take your equity but unfortunately, like Berkshire Hathaway I wont be paying dividends

Also, I've planted about 1,000 in foam boxes and pots but not into the ground.

On this forum in 20 years time people will be showing off their "Scott Roxburgh" JBP grown from seed.
If in 20 years we can get 100 high quality shohin JBP like they have in Japan I'll be a happy man! :aussie:

Webos, i got some from Scott and probably got close to 100% germination. I've been pricking out seedlings since they started to germinate and there are still lots left in the seed pot.

Awesome!! Shibui, I have some seeds myself and I never got round to germinating them... Do you think it would be silly to germinate them now?

Webos,
Why not put 10 or so in now and see what happens. Save some more for next spring, just in case. Seed I had in the past was viable for quite a few years. this lot appears to be quite fresh so it should keep for a few years at least - you could sow some each spring for the next 2 or 3 years if you wanted to.

I have never planted this late but have known people who sowed late spring and still got good germination and growth. In our climate they should still mature enough to make it through winter even planted now in mid summer.

I got 0 germination for the first time, maybe I let them dry out? sorry Scott :)
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I thought some pics might be useful.
jbp seedlings 2012 12.JPG
Today I decided they were getting a bit tall so I cut them back to promote low branching.

Here are some I pricked out last week.
jbp seedlings pricked out dec 2012.JPG
These were pricked out as soon as the seedlings were big enough to handle (many still had the seed case on the first needles). Note that these are almost as big as the ones left untouched. The taller ones have already been pruned to promote low shoots.

and finally these pics show my root pruning when pricking out pine seedlings

Cutting the roots like this produces just as good nebari as making seedling cuttings but with less bother.
