Hi Fireworks , mate glad you liked some of the setups. As with all things its about balance . Balance the tree's and the ground growing material in positions of needs and requirements and its a lot easier .

Now i did mention 400 potted tree's guys but they are trainers so i don't spend a great deal of time on them . I keep it simple and keep it basic , i still only have what i would class as 2-3 bonsai .I have maintained this setup and larger working full time as a Chippy , yes i used to bring the tree's inside and work on them at night , nothing on the idiot box worth watching . The forum and blog takes up a lot more time than most realize , a tree takes 2 hours to work a topic on both sites can take 4-8 hours . I'm a single finger typer not a speed typer , pics need taking and re-sizing , uploading , then answering P.M's and replying to questions and members , again balance is the key .

Cheers Alpine

In a word - DEDICATION. Good on you mate, I knew a bloke like you once, but he went mad and we had to shoot him.

Hi Kritta's , comments like this inspire me to keep on trying a little harder each time . Not always successful but i learn a heck of a lot . Back on 2 feet as of today , be it gently but i tackled a big olive repot and forgot about the crutches . Bloody good to be moving in the right direction at last , and things can only get better .

You got me in one Alpineheart, when I saw your set up it reminded me of mine some years ago and I remembered the time it took to maintain it. Nowdays I'm down to a dozen trees and still enjoying my obsession.

Good luck with yours.

Hi Bonsai4ever , all good mate , i take it all on the chin and have a good laugh . With the invention of hedge trimmers , chainsaws , sabre saws and the new gadgets available now its all good fun hacking and chopping . One day i'll get serious , in the not too distant future and clean a few of them up . My wife still tells me i need to have a sale , but their all uniquely different and a get rather attached to their individual character and uniqueness . I have contemplated letting her have a sale but she would give them away , Then what would i do with all my spare time .

Ah a sale
That means clearing out some of the ones you don't love that much
Then I guess you would have some spare room and we know that's where weeds grow
So really no alternative but to fill those holes

Hi Bamboos, mate this is filling the gaps in the grow beds .
100_0139.jpg
The Tridents ,
100_0140.jpg
Japanese Maples
100_0141.jpg
, Hornbeams
100_0142.jpg
and JBP's are growing very well as in the sweet corn and beans
100_0143.jpg
.Not too many weeds , no room for them .I opted to put a few vegies in to use the excess water instead of allowing the runoff to water the grass .In some places the maples are keeping up with the corn so it working out very well .

I think its excellent how you have veges in for the pests to eat and keep them off your future bonsais :)

Hi Paulofoz . mate the vegies aren't in there to attract the pests . The only major pests i have here are curl grubs and cats ,both need eradicating . A bit of vegie dust and a small amount of snail pellets is all i have ever used on vegies .

Cheers Alpine
