My First Commisioned Pot

I was so flatterd by Jarryd telling me he wanted one of my pots in his collection I thought I better make him one that was more refined and take closer scrutiny.

It should get into the next bisque firing but still about 2 months before it is finished.

Glad you like it Jarryd. I should have put something in the pic for size comparison because it is only accent size same as the last one you liked. Would need to be a small tree I think KC thought it was bigger too. I will take a measurement later.
I am always in trouble at the pottery club for not marking my work and I forgot on this one as well. I have been meaning to organise some sought of stamp I will give it some thought tonight over a beer or two.

Just one kitoi, After the last post I thought I should let Jarryd choose between the glazes of too crack pots that he liked in this post.

One is oat something over oxide wash and I forget what the other is But I am sure I will work it out we don't have that many glazes. I need to be better with my record keeping though

lol i have been switching back and forth. i think i like the iron oxide with the glazed lip

Ah the beauty of online chat. I wasn't giving you a chioce other than glazed lip over oxide wash. I was giving you a chioce of wich colour glaze over the oxide wash. The oat wich is the last one or the unamed one that is a creamy grey

um i think i like the glazing on pot number 3 it is a little more subtle and blends together really nicely with the oxide. i think maybee it was aplied a little thinner then the other two? i love how it sort of melts into the next colour

i dont know if its possible to recreate?

No worries Jarryd. I am getting alot out of it too it pushed me to try a few different things. I was getting great results doing the crack method on the wheel and thought It would be a way to improve on the uniformity of the small previous ones you liked. I found the small pot was harder than the big pot on the wheel and eventually gave up and went back to the slab building method. I found my technique is improving and it was a much less cumbersome procedure this time. It gives a different texture and I realised I should keep working with the slab built ones too.
3 and 4 are the same pot and I think I like that colour better too.

Keoti I was trying the paper clay again last night. Dam that stuff is weird. I woke up with a saw shoulder from trying to knead the stuff. I have had to re-hydrate the stuff. It sat in a bucket of water for weeks and I am always adding water it now it is back in a bag but I wonder if it still needs more. It feels like kneading tough toffee. What do you think?
