Azalea, Guess the species

Post by Damian Bee »

I thought I would test out the Azalea nuts here (me being one of those) and see if any of you can name this variety. Im not trying to be a smarty pants, just provoking some research.

I know it is sometimes difficult with just pictures so here are some clues to warm you up......

It is not a Satsuki variety
It is supposed to flower in September, this is a flush :?
It is freely avaialable, at least in Vic NSW SA
It has a Japanese variety name ;)

The prize is one of those medal things that you make for yourself out of cardboard.

May the best nut win :D

Nice colouring in the leaves
I would have said Kurume as well but suspect you after something more than that. Unfortunately i am not good enough to give more :-)

It looks like a Kirin Kurume.

If I win the cardboard medal thing can it be covered in gold glitter? This might be the closest I ever get to a podium finish! :D
