I'll be sure to give it a go. I believe I can get some good movement if I bend it over a couple of days, still trying to find the time to be able to do it though. Hopefully a day soon.

If not, I'll let the tree recover and then cut it back to the lower branch on the lhs and start again, with the apexs' essentially changing sides and becoming very much like mo's pic.

We will see!!!!!

I have introduced the first of two or three bends this morning depending on how the first one works. I think that this bend is too concentrated to work with the design ( correct me if I'm wrong

) but am planning on a little bounce back from the tree to make it look a little less manufactured, I will then add a slight bend below this one and I'm not sure on the top section as yet.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Keep in mind, not finished with the bending.

I reckon those bends are good. Very interesting use of the cage. Is it portable to allow for sun, rain etc, I can see how this could be handy if you dont have stuff like rebar to anchor against. My only concern is if you place a lot of pressure on the top bend areas it might damage the bark. Could I suggest placing a bit of rubber between the wire and the trunk. Or is it just not visable, as I see you have done it to the bottom bend.

Hi Sean,

I just had that cage laying around and kinda snowballed from there, I think it will be a tactic of mine in the future too.

As for the rubber up at the top wire, I have two smaller wires running under it and felt that they were far enough away from the bark to not worry about the rubber, and the bend itself seems to be holding the most pressure so I feel it's only needed there. It however will be something that I will watch to make sure the wires don't get too close. If they do, then I will just re wire it with the rubber in place.

Nice bend. You will probably like it more when you adjust the branches; hard to tell from these photos as foliage in the way of branch views. Looks much better now, Jason. Cheers Shane

I would just like to say thanks to all that have posted. Im just starting out at bonsai myself and as chance would have it, i purchased a juniper today. everything that has been said here has been a great help because i was just about to "jump in" myself but after reading these posrs, I think some further reaserch may be required.
