Melaleuca quinquenervia

Post by eliass »

Hi all could anyone tell me the best time to cut back, style ie wiring branches and root prune or the best time for each of the above..

This tree was already cut back by about 50% 6 months ago and has shot back like crazy

Can I reduce it back to the third branch?

Ps I might be wrong about the species..

I don't think its quinquenervia, as the leaves are a bit broader on them. But I'm a newbie, so I could very well be wrong :) Maybe a linariifolia?

Regarding your questions, I tend to follow this basic guidline from the Wiki page: https://www.ausbonsai.com.au/wiki/index. ... hould_I%3F
Have a question? The AusBonsai Wiki most likely has the answer!

The spelling is correct now for the ( prickly paperbark) so if it has prickly leaves thats what is, it is not quinquenervia ( broad leaf paperbark )

Pup Cheers

Yes I think you could cut it back to reduce the height, :2c: but then again I am only a learner,Pup would be the one to ask for this, he is very knowledgeable rogue,he might have missed the question that you asked.
