I like what you and George have accomplished here but before I saw that I would have done this

And then wired up the young shoot to make a literati.

Glad to hear the collected are going well, pity my two died :o Hope you don't make the same mistake as me and keep the tester alive and kill the good one :palm:

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I think the top bend has enough, what about a bit more of a bend closer to the base? Try a copper turnbuckle with a block.

Ok thanks Scott/
To get more at the bottom will definitely require more heavy engineering materials. It ishard as and not a lot of leveraege I think so will have to think how to achieve something

thanks brett My thought was to try and use the thicker branch to add visual weight. and i could not really get a good picture of literati in my mind. the quite boring trunk sorta kept coming to the mind when i thought literati.

ps. next time you are in Sydney let me knwo and one can go home with you still

That's a very fine bit of re-imaging/brute force Ken, the trunk now has a very special rhythm. I would not normally disagree with Bodhi, but I'd think carefully before getting rid of the top two branches. The trunk is very dramatic as it is, and those two branches just add some extra funkiness, for me. Nicely shaped all over.

A photo of the bending bar might be useful - I'd like to see how the bolts are secured in the bar. Thanks.

Ask and ye shall receive :-)

Just a length of flat bar 1 x 1/4 or so. couple of holes drilled to take a 5/16 inch bolt.
Cut a length of copper tube to cover the threads and stop damage.
