Ficus cuttings help

Post by Ficusboy101 »

I've recently collected over 50 cuttings from a ficus in a park
I need help on how to put them in water
Should I put them in a see through cup or a bucket that's not see through

How long ago did you collect them ? Usually if you have to keep them you need to keep them in a bucket of seasol. The best method is to strike them in a free draining mix rather than water.

Ficus cuttings help

Just stick then in some
Soil, make sure the leaves don't dry out, most them and keep the soil moist.

They will strike, guaranteed.

Gareth is correct. Stick em in and if you get a 50 % strike rate, you are in front.

I use a 50 /50 Mix of sharp propagating sand and coir peat moss ( both available from Bunnings)

Spread a layer in a seedling tray , put in the cuttings about 25mm into the mix then water in.
Keep covered with a Plastic sheet or lid to keep in the humidity, and place into a warm spot but out of the sun.

Leave for a month or 2 and Scoop out them Soil and root using a spoon so the new roots do not break and then pot up.
