[ID] Wierd old tree with pods

Hello everyone!

This old trees been around forever but Ive never noticed these pods on it. Not sure what it is but hey here are the pics!

Good potential for some bonsai seedlings??

In all seriousness though, Brachychiton Populneus. Kurrajong. Good job mate nail on the head! Cheers :beer:

Wonder if these are good for Bonsai.. fast growing! Relatively good size leaf which may or may not reduce! Not sure about back-budding.

reckon at primary school we used to make different kinds of small birds, usually robins, using the dried pods-but the stuff inside the pod used to make you itch if you weren't too careful.

Not a great species for bonsai. They back bud poorly. They usually only bud back just below where you cut, and only one or two buds. That said, the cut leaf forms are lovely. Grow a fat base is there best feature.

Hmm.. Well I might just eat the seeds then... Bush tucker!!

Apparently you can roast em and use instead of coffee¡
