Rain, Rain Go Away

Post by Nathan »

We have had so much rain up here in Brisbane in the bast month (half of our yearly average already)

I have started to bring in some of my tress and put them under cover for a few days just to dry out a little

Also giving he a chance do do a little work on them as well

Cheers

I have had enough rain to last me for a while :x :x
I haven't had to pick up a hose for nearly a month (don't even know where they are!) I'm getting stir crazy cant get out to prepare for winter haven't even fertilised for a month
The lawn looks like a paddock mud everywhere grass a foot long wish we could send some to you people who need it
Just as an aside has anyone had trouble with their howitiis? One of mine has just about defoliated and is looking pretty sick there are a few new buds about to shoot but it seems they don't like high humidity and rain and high temps hope it pulls through

Please take a deep breath and blow hard. Send the rain this way. As for the acacia, I'd be placing it under cover on top of say a milk crate or something where it would be allowed to drain freely. Give it time to recover. Good luck!

Thanks fireworks have already done that a few weeks ago as soon as I saw what was happening . I have noticed this before with heavy summer rains ( especially the last few wet years up here ) I'm not sure it is a drainage problem since in my experience they love a bit of water in the summer. :lost:
Maybe we are too far out of their native area?
Thanks Steve

Incredible run of weather we are having here in Melbourne..
I cannot remember a summer as good as the one just gone and Autumn is looking like a cracker so far as well.

No lower than 31 degree's on the 7 day outlook this week for Melb.

Admittedly far too dry but the consistent heat and run of hot weather is incredible.
As far as hot goes it hasn't been really "too hot" either.. Just a good low to mid 30s for the most part...

Cheers,
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

My trees are going wild with this weather. Putting on grow like never before. Just have to keep the water up to them. I just hate going outside when it's this hot. By the time it cools down in the evening, I can't be bothered.
