Well still not much to say here- I think this one will be ready in 2022 not 2012. You live and learn but this probably wasn't the best selecion for the comp. It's barely gown and has managed to die off a little at the top.

Ah well, we''ll see what it looks like in another 3 months...

I think this one needs a snoring smiley... as you can see, again, nothing much has happened and coming into winter I'm not expecting much, but I was thinking perhaps a tiny shito like one of Pup's may be the go here.. That or plant it out for a year or 10

Well this one is dying a slow death, have lost the first two branches and cut them back to live wood. Have lost some of the smaller ones up top but I'll wait til it buds in Spring and see where it's still alive and cut back then.

I unpotted it as I thought it may have been curl grubs (another pot was full of them) but nothing that I could see. Root growth wasn't great either. So time will tell...

Well as I mentioned this wasn't the best choice for the comp but hey- that's the whole point- to learn from the experience!

This Hokkaido is a super slow grower so if I want any sort of trunk on this it'll have to go into the ground for awhile- I just can't afford to do it at the moment with my Labrador prowling through the garden. Thankfully the lower branches shot back and the warm weather has helped wake up all the dormant buds which you can see in all the new growth. Honestly I don't know where I'll go with it from here- let the trunk thicken then decide I think.
