japanese quince chojubai

Hi everyone
I'm trying to find a chojubai japanese quince but all the nurseries i've called including bonsai nurseries haven't even heard of it , can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the chojubai and what i;ve been told is a dwarf quince which only grows to 4' , i was also told that the leaf size is pretty much the same on all the varieties and that it's how much you water and fertilize that makes the difference is this true. Any input would be most appreciated

You'll struggle to find it at a nursery, but it is in Australia.

I am 'in line' to receive a root cutting from a backyard grower.

Hey guys, chaenomeles japonica is aka Chojubai. Im not sure whether this is what youre after?

Moganic, like many species that have been grown as ornamentals for many years gardeners have selected special ones that are different from the regular species. These are known as cultivars. Chojubai is a cultivar of Chaenomeles japonica so while all Chobujai are Chaenomeles japonicas, not all Chanomeles japonica are Chojubai - OK

Jow has given me a small piece of the Chojubai he has obtained. As soon as it is large enough to propagate I will make them available.

thanks for the replies . Sorry i haven't answered earlier been really busy with work and house renos to get on the site. I will try that nursery and see if they have some, at least I know it's in the country and that it is a different cultivar so will keep my nose to the ground
