I dont think its fungus mate looks pretty healthy either way. Wait till the buds pop and see or perhaps someone with more knowledge than I can elaborate on what it is.
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.
Pretty normal, I think the bud has changed it's mind about opening. The bud could be lost or damaged in the cold now but it will not be an issue.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
Hairs are used by plants to prevent bugs that have sucking mouth parts and insects that would chew on new growth from being able to get to the tissue with a hairy protective barrier.
I don't think you have a problem. Just keep it out of frosts when it has young leaves.
