It seems the younger non woody shoots are quite able to be trained, then they have a very brittle stage then with gentle effort, the larger branches can be moved with care. It's just finding the right time and thickness to do it (or not...... 'CRACK Ohh bugger!!!!') Clip and grow may be a good way to help their brittle tendencies....??
